“My music is a prayer — a way to honor the land, the spirit, and the stories of the people who came before me. Every song is an invitation to heal, to remember, and to walk forward together.”

Journey

‍ ‍

Paul Sage Cannon is a nationally respected singer-songwriter, cultural voice, and proud descendant of the Kumeyaay Nation — Mountain King Snake Clan — based in the foothills of northern San Diego County. A member of the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians, Cannon resides on his family’s ancestral land, where his music and mission are deeply rooted.

An acclaimed artist and community leader, Cannon’s songwriting credits include co-writing a hit single with Jason Mraz. One of his songs—written in a spontaneous, late-night burst of inspiration—went on to become the title track of the debut album by Alex & Sierra, winners of The X Factor, following their historic victory with over 17 million votes. The release became a major commercial success, marking Cannon’s presence on a national stage as a songwriter.

Cannon has also earned national recognition as a Top 50 contestant on American Idol and made history as the first local independent artist to partner with the San Diego Padres, producing a stadium-wide music video featuring his original work, played after every Padres home victory.

As a performer, Cannon has toured extensively along the West Coast with renowned artists including Michael Franti and Tristan Prettyman, and has performed multiple dates in Colorado alongside Nahko and Medicine for the People, connecting with audiences through a shared message of healing, identity, and unity.

Beyond music, Cannon is the founder of a nonprofit initiative that produced the powerful “Unite the Tribe” concert—an event created to bridge divides between Native and non-Native communities during a time of civil tension. The event drew significant attendance and impact, demonstrating Cannon’s ability to lead through both art and action.

Known for his dynamic style—a fusion he calls Native Americana—Cannon balances fire and water, tradition and innovation. Affectionately referred to as the “Cowboy-Indian” and “Rez-Neck,” his work creates a space where cultural authenticity and modern artistry meet.

In addition to his solo work, Paul Sage Cannon is the founder of Iron Sage Wood and Paul Cannon Band. Recordings and upcoming releases from these projects will be unified under the name Paul Sage Cannon, representing the full scope of his artistic evolution. The Moon Dome

THE MOON DOME

Located on iPai-Kumeyaay ancestral lands in northern San Diego, California, the Moon Dome is surrounded by Native Astro-travel medicine cultivated by the indigenous owner Paul Cannon.

Cannon is a descendant of the iPai-Kumneyaay people and has passed down traditional and non-traditional healing modalities from his people.

A sacred portal encouraging meditation, workshops, and plant journeys, the moon dome was created as a safe, healing place for the community.

Cannon is also the founder of the band Iron Sage Wood, which gained momentum when world-renowned surfer Rob Machado joined the group. Together, they performed at major events including Ohana Festival , The Rob Machado Foundation Benefit Concert and Wonderfront Festival, while collaborating on impactful campaigns and benefit concerts with organizations such as the Surfrider Foundation and brands like Dr. Bronner’s and Taylor Guitars. These efforts brought together music, environmental activism, and community engagement alongside notable artists and public figures.
